Don’t let your animal companions be adopted by some other family after a disaster because no one knew they belonged to you. Microchip and register your pets. If your dog or cat is microchipped, make sure they’re registered. If they’re registered, make sure your contact information is up-to-date.

During an emergency, whether it is localized to your family or extends to the wider community, you will want to ensure that your pets are taken care of and you’re prepared. Build your emergency supply kit for pets.

Let your emergency stash do double duty. Choose items for your emergency supplies that can also be used for everyday needs. Or think of what you already have that you can use during an emergency.
